SCIA Convenes 27th Regular Session to Address Key Islamic Affairs

Manama: The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) held its 27th regular session, chaired by Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the SCIA. The Council extended its Eid Al Adha greetings to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Royal Family, the Government and people of Bahrain, as well as the Arab and Islamic nations.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Council commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, for its ongoing dedication to the care of pilgrims and the management of the holy sites with a focus on safety, health, and spiritual serenity.

The meeting highlighted the religious significance of the arrival of the first ten days of Dhu Al Hijjah and encouraged Muslims to increase acts of worship, charity, and family unity during this sacred period. It also urged all pilgrims to adhere to Hajj regulations and perform the rituals with sincerity and discipline.

The meeting reviewed the royal directive to issue the Bahrain Islamic Calendar for the year 1447 Hijri, noting its alignment with Sharia guidelines and astronomical standards. It recognised the calendar's accuracy and the role it plays in preserving Bahrain's scholarly and scientific heritage.

The Council noted the success of the Conference on Innovation Strategies in Islamic Endowment and Sustainable Development, which brought together leading scholars and experts from across the Islamic world. The Council emphasised the importance of modernising the endowments sector through improved governance, transparency, and investment tools that align with Islamic principles. Discussions also highlighted the role of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and data analytics in optimising endowment management.

The Council instructed the endowment directorates to review and implement the conference's key recommendations and called for increased efforts to raise public awareness about the societal benefits of endowments. It also underscored the importance of publishing annual reports on endowment revenue and spending to enhance transparency and encourage philanthropic participation.

The session concluded with the discussion of agenda items, review of committee reports, and the adoption of necessary resolutions.
