CSB and iGA Release Updated IT Job Classification Standard

Manama: The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) has issued the third edition of the IT Job Evaluation and Classification Standard for the civil service, including 11 specialized job titles such as those in artificial intelligence, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and IT systems auditing.

According to Bahrain News Agency, this updated edition builds on the previous version from 2022 and aligns with the latest global developments and best practices in information technology. It aims to enhance government performance and improve the quality of services provided to citizens and residents.

Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, President of CSB, emphasized that incorporating AI-related roles underscores the growing importance of this domain in enhancing decision-making, operational efficiency, and delivering advanced services through predictive analytics and big data processing. He highlighted that AI technologies are now essential tools for public sector digital transformation and for improving the user experience.

Shaikh Daij bin Salman also noted that strengthening IT auditing functions is crucial for advancing digital governance and ensuring the integrity and security of government information systems. This supports the early detection of technical risks and ensures compliance with approved policies and standards.

Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), stressed that the revised standard is the result of a close collaboration between the Authority and the CSB. He described the update as part of Bahrain's national efforts to strengthen governance, develop IT-related policies and frameworks, and keep pace with global trends in digital innovation and emerging technologies.

Al Qaed also pointed out that aligning professional certifications with the standard is a strategic move to enhance the professionalism and technical capabilities of national talent in the IT sector. This initiative aims to raise their readiness to adapt to rapid technological changes and support the sustainability of Bahrain's digital transformation journey.

The updated classification standard is intended to empower government entities to attract skilled IT professionals, allocate technical human resources more effectively, and support national digital transformation initiatives in line with Bahrain's commitment to adopting modern technologies and enhancing institutional innovation.
