SCH Chairman Meets Vice Chancellor of Royal College of Surgeons to Discuss Medical Education

Manama: Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Health (SCH), held a meeting with Professor Cathal Kelly, the Vice Chancellor and CEO / Registrar of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin (RCSI), and Professor Sameer Otoom, President of the RCSI - Medical University of Bahrain. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the SCH Chairman highlighted the significant role of the RCSI - Medical University of Bahrain in advancing medical education and providing the health sector with skilled medical professionals. He stressed the necessity of collaboration between health and academic institutions to maintain high-quality education and advanced training aligned with international benchmarks.

The Health Minister praised the College's dedication to delivering medical and nursing education at the highest international standards and its ongoing contribution to equipping Bahrain's health sector with qualified professionals. She underscored the importance of investing in national personnel and enhancing their skills.

During the meeting, participants discussed strategies to boost cooperation, share expertise, and develop medical and nursing programs aimed at fostering innovation, sector efficiency, and a sustainable, knowledge-driven health system.

Professor Kelly reiterated the College's dedication to supporting the Ministry of Health through initiatives like research and practical training programs, aimed at enhancing medical skills and improving the quality of healthcare services.
