Registration Closes for Open Summer 3×3 Basketball Championship

Manama: The Bahrain Basketball Federation has officially closed registration for the inaugural Bahrain Open Summer 3x3 Basketball Championship, featuring 24 teams representing national clubs, commercial companies, universities, as well as local teams formed by individuals.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the tournament is scheduled to commence on June 14 at the Zain Hall and will run until August 1. It is part of a sports agenda aimed at promoting basketball activity during the summer and providing a competitive platform for 3x3 basketball enthusiasts-a dynamic format played on a half-court with one hoop.

This championship represents a key initiative by the Bahrain Basketball Federation to expand the sport's participation base and establish Bahrain's presence in the international 3x3 tournament circuit sanctioned by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). Notably, this edition marks the launch of what will become an annual event.

The 24 teams will compete to reach the final qualifying round (Quest), where the winner will earn a spot in one of the prestigious global tournaments on the FIBA calendar. This international dimension offers local players valuable exposure to world-class competition.

The total prize pool for the championship amounts to $6,000, distributed among the top-performing teams, raising the level of competition and enthusiasm among participants, whose backgrounds range from professional athletes to amateurs.

The 3x3 basketball format has been gaining increasing attention regionally and internationally, especially after its inclusion in the Olympic Games. The Bahrain Basketball Federation hopes this championship will attract more fans and open broader opportunities for Bahraini talents on the international stage.
