Manama: Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, chaired a meeting of the National Committee for Civil Emergency Management, attended by senior officials and representatives from various Interior Ministry directorates and relevant entities. The meeting was held following the directives of the Civil Defence Council and in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to safeguarding national security and ensuring the safety of its citizens and residents.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Chief of Public Security underscored the importance of activating the National Civil Emergency Plan in all its operational and logistical components to ensure the highest levels of efficiency and preparedness. The committee reviewed national arrangements to address potential implications in light of the rapid regional developments.
The Chief of Public Security emphasised the need to enhance coordination mechanisms and institutional integration among all relevant entities, with a particular focus on field readiness across sectors and bolstering coordination between security and service agencies. He also emphasised the importance of regularly updating plans and scenarios based on precise risk assessments to ensure effective response to various emergency cases.
The meeting included a review and update of emergency plans in line with potential scenarios, with particular attention to security and humanitarian assessments. It also discussed efforts to strengthen coordination between the operations centres of various ministries and consolidate efforts under the National Emergency Plan.
The Chief of Public Security highlighted the necessity of ensuring medical and shelter preparedness by reviewing the readiness of hospitals, medical personnel, pharmaceutical stockpiles, and essential supplies. The availability of strategic reserves of food, water, and fuel was also discussed, with emphasis on integrating this information into the decision-making framework.
Lt. Gen. Al Hassan called for strengthening public awareness and security communication by optimising official messaging through the National Civil Protection Platform. He underscored the importance of avoiding rumours and relying solely on official sources of information, urging the public to follow updates and instructions issued through the Civil Defence platform to maintain public order and safety.
