Public Security Chief inaugurates two higher education programmes

Chief of Public Security and Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Royal Academy of Police (RAP), Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, inaugurated today two master’s degree programmes.

The first programme is on human rights and criminal justice and the second is on cybersecurity and digital forensics. They are part of the cooperation between RAP and the UK-based University of Huddersfield.

The two programmes are part of the modernisation and development strategy of the Interior Ministry and the directives of Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

The Chief of Public Security hailed the support and directives of the Interior Minister for RAP to continue to be an academic, educational and training landmark by providing all capabilities to develop the academic operations. He said that the launch of the master’s degree in human rights and criminal justice is a turning point to enhance the skills of employees based on modern technology and evidence collection.

He added that the master’s programme in cybersecurity and digital forensics is considered an approach to promote theoretical and practical skills in information security and modern technology. He said that the security approach is based on reinforcing the workforce’s capabilities through organising security education and training programmes per international standards. He hailed the role of RAP in reinforcing cooperation with universities and training academies, including Huddersfield University.

The duration of the three-semester human rights and criminal justice programme for one year and was designed to meet the needs of a specific group specialised in law, criminal justice and law enforcement.

The cybersecurity and Digital Forensics prorgamme aims to develop the technical skills and performance of the graduates by enhancing their digital knowledge.
