Peaceful coexistence, combating extremism to be highlighted in Bahrain schools

Director of the Anti-Violence and Addiction Program “Maan” (Together) Ali Ahmed Amini has participated, in coordination with the Bahrain embassy to the US, in the international conference of the American Foreign Policy Council on protecting youth.

Amini praised the approach of Bahrain, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in promoting the values of coexistence and tolerance among all components of society as well as at the international level.

He also lauded the efforts exerted by the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in this regard.

During his review of themes related to the topics of the conference, including the danger of extremism on the Internet, he pointed out that Maan, launched by Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and supported by Bahrain’s Ambassador to US Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, empowers youth to face challenges trough programs that contribute to strengthening the abilities of young people to make decisions consciously.

This is reflected in the positive values of accepting the others, peaceful coexistence, and rejecting extremism and racism, he added.

Amini said that Maan will implement two new programs in Bahrain’s schools – peaceful coexistence and combating extremism.

They aim to promote human principles, coexistence, tolerance and rejection of extremism, he added.

He pointed out that “cyber security” has been included and that the final outputs of the new curricula will be integrated in applicable policies against extremism on the Internet, taking into account the social, cultural and religious differences of countries.
