Manama: Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), received Yousif bin Ibrahim Al Abdan, Chief Executive Officer of the King Fahd Causeway Authority. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and further developing operations at the King Fahd Causeway crossing to improve service efficiency and facilitate the movement of travelers between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the NPRA Undersecretary affirmed that traffic movement through the King Fahd Causeway is witnessing a rapid return to normal and stable levels, overcoming the challenges imposed by the war conditions during the past period. He highlighted the noticeable increase in the number of travelers crossing the border point, which rose from 833,000 travelers in March 2026 to nearly 1.5 million travelers in April 2026, marking an 80% increase compared with March.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer reviewed the key technical systems and services adopted at the King Fahd Causeway and their role in enhancing traffic flow and reducing average crossing times. He noted that more than 33 million travelers crossed the border point in 2025, representing a 1.6% increase compared with the previous year.
The NPRA Undersecretary was also briefed on the results of the service level agreement between the authority and Bahrain passport services, which achieved a 91% traveler satisfaction rate for Bahrain passport services. A number of future development projects were also discussed. He also praised the "Jisr Plus" fast-track experience, which has recorded more than 100,000 vehicle crossings since its launch in March 2025.
The NPRA Undersecretary commended the prominent role undertaken by the Chief Executive Officer of the King Fahd Causeway Authority in leading development and modernization efforts, as well as the authority's qualitative initiatives and advanced technological projects, which have contributed to enhancing operational efficiency, improving travelers' experience, and raising the quality of services provided at border crossings.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of the King Fahd Causeway Authority expressed his thanks and appreciation to the NPRA Undersecretary, praising the ongoing cooperation that contributes to the development of services and the enhancement of their efficiency.
