Jau: A delegation from the Board of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) conducted an announced field visit to the Jau Reform and Rehabilitation Centre to monitor the conditions of inmates and assess the living environment and quality of health and welfare services provided.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit also aimed to evaluate the centre's compliance with relevant national and international human rights standards. During the visit, the delegation met with several inmates who shared their remarks and requests, primarily focusing on living and health conditions. Inmates also expressed a desire for the expansion of the Law on Alternative Sentencing and the Open Prisons Programme.
The findings of the visit will be compiled into a detailed report with recommendations to be submitted to the relevant authorities. The NIHR underscored its commitment to working with the concerned entities to follow up on the inmates' requests, contributing to their rehabilitation and reintegration into society in a positive manner.
