Manama: Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, received Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), and Dr. Hussain Al Meer, Chairman of the Bahrain Private Hospitals Society. The meeting reviewed areas of cooperation in implementing the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Law and discussed coordination and follow-up mechanisms for the appointment of data protection officers within private healthcare institutions.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister commended the efforts of the NHRA in supporting the initiative. Al Maawda highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry and the Bahrain Private Hospitals Society in this regard. He also announced that, in partnership with the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), the ministry will launch a training programme for data protection officers. The programme will introduce the role and responsibilities of data protection officers as defined under the provisions of the law.
