Manama: Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), emphasised that Edict (55) of 2025, which introduces the general framework for reviewing special education needs, reflects Bahrain's commitment to enhancing national policies for the rights of persons with disabilities, in alignment with international conventions, including the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Derazi highlighted that the edict will aid in integrating and empowering persons with disabilities through an inclusive education system. This system ensures equal and fair access to education, aligning with the Constitution, the National Action Charter, and Bahrain's international human rights commitments.
He noted that the framework, with its clear and objective standards, is designed to improve the quality of educational and rehabilitation institutions and services. It aims to promote equal opportunities and ensure non-discrimination, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on inclusive and quality education.
The NIHR Chairman added that the edict represents an additional step in Bahrain's continuous efforts to safeguard and promote the rights of persons with disabilities, supporting their active participation in society.
