Manama: The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) announced the launch of a tree-planting project at the Hamad Town Model Youth Centre, supported by Bahrain Credit, as part of its efforts to expand greenery in youth and community centres across the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was attended by Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD, and Abdulla Bukhowa, CEO of Bahrain Credit. Minister Tawfiqi stated that the Ministry of Youth Affairs prioritises the Forever Green initiative, which aligns with the ministry's goal of raising environmental awareness among Bahraini youth. She praised the collaboration between the ministry, the NIAD, and Bahrain Credit in supporting national efforts to promote afforestation and environmental sustainability.
The Youth Minister highlighted that the tree planting at the Hamad Town Model Youth Centre exemplifies the ministry's role in empowering youth to contribute to environmental sustainability objectives and increasing their awareness of Bahrain's leadership in this field. She noted that involving young people in such initiatives enhances their sense of belonging and social responsibility, encouraging them to be active partners in creating a greener, more sustainable future for the Kingdom.
Bukhowa expressed pride in supporting the project and confirmed the company's commitment to its social responsibility towards the environment and the community. He stated that this partnership reflects Bahrain Credit's ongoing efforts to raise environmental awareness among youth by helping provide a healthy and safe environment for their activities. He added that the company's cooperation with the NIAD underscores its vision to contribute to sustainable development in Bahrain.
The project is part of public-private cooperation to support sustainable afforestation initiatives and enhance the role of youth centres as green and environmental spaces. It includes planting various trees and plants designed to improve the surrounding environment and provide shaded areas suitable for recreational and community activities, aligning with the initiative's goal of integrating environmental considerations into youth and community facilities.
