Kampala: Jamal Fares Al Rowaiei, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, participated in the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), held in Kampala, Uganda, from October 15 to 16.
According to Bahrain News Agency, in his address, the ambassador emphasized Bahrain's steadfast principles in promoting dialogue and international and regional cooperation. He reiterated the Kingdom's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to continue efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
Ambassador Al Rowaiei highlighted Bahrain's ongoing initiatives to promote dialogue and coexistence among peoples and religions through efforts in tolerance and human understanding, including the establishment of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance, which has become an international platform for promoting tolerance and building bridges of communication among nations.
He expressed appreciation to the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement for their support of Bahrain's candidacy for membership in the UN Security Council for the 2026-2027 term. He highlighted that Bahrain would work with all member states in a spirit of shared responsibility and constructive partnership to strengthen international peace and security, promote political solutions to crises, combat terrorism, protect cultural heritage in conflict zones, enhance maritime security, and advance sustainable development.
The ambassador reiterated the importance of the Palestinian cause to achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East. He also highlighted the significance of the agreement signed at the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit, based on the peace plan presented by His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, which aims to end the war in Gaza, ensure the release of hostages and detainees, and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to residents and civilians as a key step toward strengthening regional security and stability in the Middle East.
Hatem Abdulhameed Hatem, Chief of the Organisations Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the meeting.
