Municipalities Minister and US Ambassador Join Tree Planting Initiative in Manama

Manama: Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and Steven Craig Bondy, US Ambassador to Bahrain, participated in a tree-planting initiative organised by the US Embassy in Manama.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister commended the US Embassy's initiative in supporting environmental efforts. He also emphasised the strong bilateral relations between Bahrain and the United States across various sectors. Al Mubarak underscored the ministry's commitment to fostering partnerships across all sectors to ensure the ongoing implementation of the National Afforestation Plan. He outlined the plan's goal to double the number of trees by 2035, in line with Bahrain's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

On his part, the ambassador commended Bahrain's afforestation efforts and expressed appreciation to the minister for including the US Embassy in this national campaign. The ambassador described the tree planting as a symbol of the care and commitment needed to sustain strong diplomatic relations. He underscored the Embassy's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain and wished the Kingdom continued success and prosperity.
