Manama: In a new global sporting achievement reflecting the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the McLaren team, owned by Mumtalakat Holding Company, the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, won the Formula 1 Constructors' Championship for the second consecutive year, marking the team's tenth overall title.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the historic win was secured at the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay, with Lando Norris finishing third and teammate Oscar Piastri fourth, bringing the team's total to 650 points and clinching the title six races before the season's end, equalling the record for the fastest championship win.
This victory, achieved over 18 races with 12 wins, seven one-two finishes, and 28 podiums, reflects McLaren's technical and organisational excellence, symbolising Bahrain's vision that restored the team's glory.
Bahrain's long-term strategy, since acquiring McLaren in 2017 when the team faced financial and performance challenges, involved major investments in technology and development, expanding research both in Woking, the United Kingdom, and Bahrain.
Under CEO Zak Brown, McLaren redefined its sporting and commercial identity, innovating with the MCL39 car's hybrid systems, aerodynamics, and advanced simulations, enabling drivers Piastri and Norris to compete strongly across five continents.
Beyond sporting success, McLaren serves as inspiration in the Kingdom through training programmes and university partnerships in motorsport technology, highlighting Bahrain's growing role in global sports investment and talent development.
In the 2025 season, Piastri won seven races including China, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Miami, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands, while Norris secured five victories including Australia, Monaco, Austria, Britain, and Hungary. The team achieved multiple double wins, confirming their dominance ahead of clinching the constructors' title in Singapore.
With six races remaining, focus shifts to the Drivers' Championship, where Piastri leads with 336 points, 22 ahead of Norris. Fans anticipate exciting final rounds as the team continues to demonstrate technical and mental strength, solidifying 2025 as a milestone year in McLaren's pursuit of excellence under Mumtalakat's ownership.
