LMRA Executes 1,728 Inspections, Detains 24 Workers for Violations

Manama: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced the implementation of 1,728 inspection campaigns and visits from August 17-23, resulting in the detention of 24 violating and irregular workers, while 83 violators were deported.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the inspection campaigns and visits led to the monitoring of several violations related to the provisions of several regulating laws, particularly the LMRA and the Residency Laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Legal measures were taken concerning the observed violations.

The Authority noted that 1,715 inspection visits were conducted on various shops across all governorates, alongside 13 joint inspection campaigns. These included 5 campaigns in the Muharraq Governorate, 4 in the Northern Governorate, and 4 in the Southern Governorate.

Government entities that participated in the campaigns included the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), and the respective Police Directorate of each Governorate, the General Directorate of Civil Defense, the Social Insurance Organization, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The Authority affirmed the ongoing joint coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection campaigns throughout all governorates in the Kingdom. These efforts aim to address violations or practices that could negatively impact the stability and competitiveness of the labour market or harm the economic and social security of the Kingdom.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority has renewed its call for all members of society to support government agencies' efforts in addressing illegal labour practices. Violations can be reported via the electronic form on the authority's website www.lmra.gov.bh, by calling the authority's call centre at 17506055, or through the government's Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
