LMRA CEO Praises Bahrain’s Tier 1 Status in US Trafficking in Persons Report

Manama: Nibras Talib, CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the National Committee for Combatting Trafficking in Persons, affirmed that Bahrain's achievement of Tier 1 status in the United States Department of State's Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report for the eighth consecutive year reflects international recognition of the Kingdom's pioneering and institutional efforts in protecting rights and combating trafficking in persons.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the CEO extended his congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, stressing that the recognition underscores Bahrain's commitment to safeguarding human dignity and upholding justice through advanced legislation, effective enforcement, and comprehensive protection measures.

Talib noted that Bahrain's consistent success in the TIP Report, the foremost annual reference monitoring the efforts of 188 countries, affirms the Kingdom's international credibility and strengthens its position as a leading model in human rights protection. He added that this achievement also enhances Bahrain's reputation as a regional hub for investment and a model work environment that attracts talent from around the world.

He emphasized that the LMRA, in cooperation with partners in the National Committee for Combatting Trafficking in Persons, will continue to advance initiatives and strategies that sustain this distinction and respond to regional and global developments, thereby consolidating Bahrain's leadership in this field.

Talib praised the Ministry of Interior, led by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, for its continued role in safeguarding social and economic stability and ensuring the integrity of the labour market through close cooperation on inspection campaigns and enforcement measures.

He also highlighted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the leadership of Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, for its efforts in projecting Bahrain's achievements on the international stage, noting in the role of Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom to the United States.

The CEO underscored the contribution of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, the Supreme Judicial Council, and the Public Prosecution in strengthening the rule of law and promoting justice.

He stressed that the National Committee for Combatting Trafficking in Persons, which brings together representatives of key government entities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, the Ministry of Labour, the National Communication Centre and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority as well as representatives from civil society organizations, remains committed to advancing joint initiatives that reinforce Bahrain's values and ensure a secure and fair working environment.

Talib added that Bahrain's success has also been supported by constructive international partnerships, including with the United States, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for GCC States, which have played an important role in consolidating the Kingdom's leading position in human rights protection.
