Kuwait Summons Iranian Ambassador Over Bubiyan Island Incident

Kuwait city: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait summoned Mohammad Toutonchi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kuwait. Hamad Al Mashaan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kuwait handed the Iranian ambassador a protest note following the infiltration of Bubiyan Island by armed members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and their clash with Kuwaiti armed forces.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Kuwait reiterated its strong condemnation and denunciation of the hostile act, calling on Iran to immediately cease such actions.

The ministry held Iran fully responsible for what it described as a violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and a serious breach of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.

Ambassador Al Mashaan stressed that Kuwait reserves its full right to defend itself in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty and the security of its people and residents.
