Justice Minister Visits Sunni Endowments Directorate to Discuss Implementation of Royal Decrees

Manama: Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, met with Shaikh Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed bin Futtais Al Hajeri, Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Council, on his visit to the Sunni Endowments Directorate.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by Isa Sami Al Mannai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments. The discussion centered on the implementation of recent royal decrees aimed at modernizing Bahrain's endowment framework. Specifically, Royal Decree (28) of 2025 amends provisions of the 1985 decree regarding the structure of Sunni and Jaafari endowments councils and directorates, while Royal Decree (29) of 2025 establishes a new regulatory framework for both Sunni and Jaafari endowments. These decrees aim to create a more effective and coordinated institutional approach.

Minister Al Maawda praised the efforts of Shaikh Dr. Al Hajeri, along with the Sunni Endowments Council members and the directorate's staff, for their contributions to the development and maintenance of mosques throughout the Kingdom of Bahrain. He remarked that their work demonstrates a strong commitment to addressing the needs of local communities.

He also emphasized the directorate's ongoing efforts to maintain and refurbish places of worship, ensuring they are ready and suitable for worshippers. Furthermore, he highlighted the directorate's initiatives in developing and investing in endowment assets, aligning them with their religious and social purpose, and supporting broader goals of community service and sustainable development.
