Justice Minister Highlights Bahrain’s Observer Membership in GPA

Manama: The Personal Data Protection Authority (PDPA) in the Kingdom of Bahrain has announced its official accession to the Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) as an observer member, underscoring the Kingdom's commitment to advancing data protection and safeguarding privacy. Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf and Acting Chairman of the PDPA Board of Directors, noted that securing observer membership in the GPA represents an important milestone for the authority.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the membership will create broader opportunities for cooperation and knowledge exchange with international counterparts, and enable Bahrain to align with leading global practices in personal data protection. He added that this will further strengthen trust in the Kingdom's digital environment for both individuals and institutions.

The GPA is recognised as the largest international forum dedicated to sharing expertise and information on data protection and privacy. It brings together more than 140 organisations from over 90 countries worldwide.
