Judicial and Legal Studies Institute launches 2nd Professional Legal Practice Certificate Programme

The Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI) announced today the start of the second edition of its Professional Legal Practice Certificate (PLPC) programme.

The PLPC starts on September 5, 2022 and will continue until March 1, 2023. The twenty-five trainees underwent a rigorous selection process with an overall acceptance rate of less than 50 percent.

They will undergo skills training in legal ethics, legal research, legal drafting, interpersonal skills, corporate law, financial law, contracts, anti-money laundering, real estate law, negotiations skills, and alternative dispute resolution.

JLSI Chairman, Dr. Khaled Serry Seyam noted the unique nature of this particular training program. The PLPC, delivered by top lawyers entirely in English, aims to build capacity and develop the skills of new law graduates, empowering them to enter the legal industry on a solid footing, particularly in the areas of corporate, commercial, and financial law, indicating that this type of program is particularly aligned with the vision of its Board of Trustees that prioritizes the training of young lawyers.

Dr. Serry Seyam stated that this program represents a unique collaborative model between the legal community and JLSI, with all participating law firms extending support as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

Dr. Serry Seyam extends his sincere thanks and appreciation all the supporting law firms who have provided training and financial support in order to make the PLPC possible, particularly, JLSI Legal Training Partner, Hassan Radhi & Associates; PLPC Lead Training Partner Al Tamimi & Company; PLPC Sponsors Newton Legal Group and Zeenat Al Mansoori & Associates; as well as DLA Piper, and MENA Chambers.
