Interior Minister Receives Pakistani Delegation to Boost Civil Defence Cooperation

Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence Council, welcomed the Director-General of the Pakistan Border Works Organisation (BWO) during a recent meeting. The event was attended by Lieutenant General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel, Deputy Minister of Interior, and Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security.

According to Bahrain News Agency, General Shaikh Rashid praised the BWO's expertise in shelter management and civil protection. He underlined the robust relationship between Bahrain and Pakistan, expressing both nations' interest in strengthening mutual cooperation. The minister highlighted the significance of collaboration and the sharing of expertise to improve civil emergency management, increase readiness, and enhance public safety and risk response mechanisms.

The meeting included a review of Bahrain's initiatives in civil protection, such as the National Civil Protection Platform's awareness campaigns and technical guides for shelters and evacuation centres. These efforts aim to promote safe behaviour during emergencies and implement effective protection and safety measures.

Both parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation and address common challenges, reinforcing the commitment to further develop their collaborative efforts in civil defence and emergency preparedness.
