Manama: His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the outstanding achievement of Bahrain's national boxing team at the Braga Open Boxing Tournament. The team secured a total of eight medals, including three gold, three silver, and two bronze.
According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed also extended his congratulations to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of SCYS, President of GSA, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), on this accomplishment.
HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed emphasized that this achievement is a testament to the unwavering support of HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which has been instrumental in advancing the sports sector. His Highness highlighted that the results showcase the successful efforts led by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad in fostering an ideal environment that has elevated athletes' performance, particularly in combat sports.
HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed praised the national boxing team's performance during the international tournament and commended the technical and administrative staff for their efforts in preparing the team for this milestone event. He also expressed his appreciation to the Bahrain Boxing Federation, led by Rashid Isa Flaifel, for their effective preparations and commitment to ensuring a successful participation.
Rashid Isa Flaifel expressed his congratulations to Bahrain's leadership and sports authorities, sharing his pride in the team's performance against top-tier international competitors. He noted that the results reflect the athletes' mental focus and determination and serve as strong motivation for the continued growth of boxing in the Kingdom.
He also commended the technical and administrative staff for their dedication and highlighted that this achievement marks a significant step in the sport's development, with expectations for more successes in future international competitions.
The national boxing team earned three gold medals through Jayden Price in the 44kg school category, Mohammed Atiya in the 75kg junior category, and Ahmed Atiya in the 60kg youth category. Silver medals were won by Salman Mohammed in the 38kg school category, Yousif Khalid in the 71kg youth category, and Hassan Jamsheer in the 75kg youth category. Bronze medals were awarded to Fahad Al Abdullah in the 60kg elite men's category and Mohammed Fakher in the 71kg elite men's category.
