Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the National Anti-Drug Committee, participated in the Ministry of Interior's commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event highlighted the Kingdom's ongoing commitment to combating drug abuse and promoting public awareness.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was attended by several key figures, including Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Noaimi, Minister of Information; Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf; Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education; Lieutenant General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel, Deputy Minister of Interior; and Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security.
General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah expressed gratitude to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, along with other security authorities, ministries, institutions, and individuals collaborating to protect society from narcotics. He underlined the necessity of continuous national efforts to tackle drug-related challenges to safeguard the nation's youth and ensure a secure future.
The Interior Minister discussed the ongoing advancement of the Ministry's programs and initiatives, such as the "Maan" (Together) program against violence and addiction, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, alongside the Recovery program and initiatives under the alternative sentencing project.
Brigadier Abdulaziz Al Rumaihi, Director General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, praised General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah's contributions to the achievements of the Anti-Narcotics Directorates. He emphasized the significance of community partnership in anti-drug efforts, involving citizens, residents, government, and private organizations, and highlighted security awareness as a crucial element in mitigating negative phenomena and ensuring social cohesion.
During the event, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah honored personnel from the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, relevant security authorities, program organizers, and supporting national companies and institutions for their roles in combating and raising awareness about drug issues.
The commemoration included a film showcasing national anti-drug efforts, the Anti-Narcotics Directorate's achievements, and initiatives aimed at public awareness and reintegrating individuals recovering from addiction into society. An exhibition featured contributions from ministries, National Anti-Drug Committee members, and relevant Interior Ministry directorates, presenting the Kingdom's security and preventive measures against drug abuse.
