Interior Minister Chairs ICT Committee Meeting to Bolster Digital Transformation in Bahrain

Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (MCICT), chaired the committee's meeting. The meeting saw the participation of key government figures, including members of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunications, Cabinet Affairs, Education, Industry and Commerce, as well as the Legal Affairs Minister, Acting Labour Minister, the CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority, and the Coordinator of the Prime Minister's Office.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Interior Minister highlighted the significant progress Bahrain has made in its digital transformation strategy, largely due to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. This strategy focuses on employing modern technology to serve the community and ensure digital sustainability. He also praised the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for initiatives that improve government service efficiency and modernization, enhancing Bahrain's standing in the United Nations e-Government Index.

During the meeting, the committee discussed several agenda items, including a briefing on key ICT projects in the diplomatic sector. They reviewed an executive plan designed to protect consumers from electronic fraud and fraudulent transactions to boost confidence in e-commerce in Bahrain. Additionally, they examined draft legislation related to the MCICT's work, which is part of Bahrain's legislative plan for 2025, and reviewed a presentation on the unified template guide for government websites.

The Interior Minister expressed his appreciation to the committee members for their dedication to communication and coordination efforts, which are crucial for the development of government services for all citizens and residents.
