Industry Ministry Shuts Food Facility for Unjustified Price Hike

Manama: The Inspection Department of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has closed a food retail business after it was found to have raised prices on several products without justification, disregarding the current exceptional circumstances, in violation of Consumer Protection Law No. 35 of 2012. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the business was also found not to display prices on all products, constituting another breach of consumer protection law.

The ministry emphasised that it will not tolerate any practices that harm consumers’ rights or disrupt market stability and will continue taking strict legal action against anyone found breaking the law.
