Manama: Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, chaired the remote 70th meeting of the Commercial Cooperation Committee as part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), with the participation of the Ministers of Commerce from GCC member states, the accompanying Gulf delegations, and Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Fakhro highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen coordination and joint integration toward achieving Gulf economic integration to serve mutual interests and support the development of GCC commercial sectors. He noted that the hostile Iranian attacks targeting the GCC and their resulting economic repercussions have only increased the resilience and determination of GCC countries to continue achieving their development goals.
The Minister also emphasised the importance of enhancing the smooth flow of intra-GCC trade and continuing to develop relevant regulatory frameworks in line with global changes, particularly in the fields of the digital economy and e-commerce, to strengthen the competitiveness of Gulf economies. He commended the efforts made by the GCC General Secretariat and the technical committees in this regard.
The meeting discussed a number of topics related to Gulf economic integration, including following up on the implementation of previous decisions, enhancing joint Gulf cooperation in the fields of trade, digital economy, and commercial legislation, as well as addressing priority issues related to improving the business environment and stimulating economic growth.
