Manama: The Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC) held its fifth meeting of the third term remotely, during which procurement requests submitted by government entities, valued at approximately BD3 million, were reviewed. The meeting was chaired by Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Committee reviewed agenda items, including the Public Prosecution's digital forensic laboratory project. This project is part of the Public Prosecution's efforts to strengthen the legal system and keep pace with rapid technological advancements. It aims to establish an integrated digital forensic laboratory for the efficient management and analysis of digital investigations, supported by advanced technologies that leverage artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency and strengthen the reliability of digital forensics in line with the highest international standards.
The Committee also discussed the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications' Unmanned Aircraft (Drone) Traffic Management Platform. This initiative aims to automate and improve all services related to unmanned aircraft, including licensing procedures as well as the tracking and monitoring of flight operations. The platform is expected to enhance regulation efficiency and result in higher levels of safety for drone use in the Kingdom.
Additionally, the meeting covered the upgrade of the National Revenue System to address excise tax requirements. The project seeks to enhance licensing, billing, and auditing processes, streamline procedures for system users, and strengthen monitoring tools. This will support financial sustainability and digital transformation in the Kingdom.
Committee members addressed projects and procurement requests related to the development and ongoing support of information systems at various government entities. These efforts aim to improve the quality and efficiency of IT services and ensure business continuity. At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee reviewed the implementation of decisions made during prior meetings and discussed the progress of ongoing work.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Khalid Ahmed Almutawa, iGA Deputy Chief Executive of Operations and Governance and Committee Vice Chairman; Nawal Ibrahim Al Khater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education; Noora Hassan Al Assam, Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Information at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy; Dr. Samya Ali Bahram, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health at the Ministry of Health; and Dr. Mazen Mohammed Ali, Dean of the College of Information Technology at the University of Bahrain, in addition to the ICT Governance Committee's support team.
