Hyundai and Kia Break Into UK Top Five Car Manufacturers for Sales

London: Hyundai Motor Co. and its smaller affiliate, Kia Corp., have achieved a significant milestone by ranking among the top five car manufacturers in vehicle sales in the United Kingdom for the first time in June, based on British industry data released on Sunday. Hyundai secured fourth place, while Kia took fifth.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reported that Hyundai sold 10,109 vehicles in the UK last month. This figure marks a 9.9% increase from the same period last year, reflecting Hyundai's growing market presence and consumer appeal. Despite experiencing a 2.6% year-on-year decline, Kia managed to sell 10,043 units, securing its position among the top five.

Strong domestic demand for Hyundai's Tucson and Kia's Sportage SUVs played a crucial role in these positive sales figures, as noted by the South Korean News Agency (Yonhap). Hyundai is set to continue its momentum with plans to sell over 100,000 vehicles in the UK this year, further bolstered by the upcoming introduction of its all-electric Ioniq 9 flagship SUV later in the year.
