HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Calls for Iran to Cease Hostile Acts and Reopen Strait of Hormuz

Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, met with the Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer MP, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, at Sakhir Palace. HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister urged Iran to cease its hostile aggression against the region and the global economy, emphasizing the necessity for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Bahrain News Agency, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad highlighted the longstanding strategic partnership between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, which continues to strengthen under the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty King Charles III. The Crown Prince expressed Bahrain's commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation through joint agreements and strategic partnerships aligned with shared objectives.

During discussions, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister praised the UK's role in promoting regional and international security, acknowledging its efforts in countering Iranian threats that violate international law. The talks covered opportunities to deepen the bilateral partnership and addressed developments impacting the global economy and regional stability.

HRH underscored Bahrain's position on the importance of Iran ceasing its hostile actions in the region and ensuring the Strait of Hormuz remains open. He highlighted the impact of Iranian aggression on civilians and infrastructure in Bahrain, GCC countries, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, calling for decisive measures against such threats.

The Crown Prince emphasized a comprehensive approach to Iranian threats, addressing its nuclear and ballistic capabilities, support for proxy militias, and threats to navigation. He commended Bahrain's defense and security forces for their role in maintaining national security.

The Crown Prince insisted on Iran's adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which condemns Iran's attacks and demands an immediate halt to hostilities targeting civilian infrastructure. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer expressed strong condemnation of the attacks and reiterated the UK's support for Bahrain's security and stability.

The meeting was attended by several prominent Bahraini officials, including HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
