HRH Princess Sabeeka Establishes Committee for Women in Early Education Sector

Manama: Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has issued Decision (1) of 2025 to establish the Committee for Women working in Nurseries and Kindergartens.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the newly formed committee is tasked with examining the conditions of women employed in nurseries and kindergartens. It will also propose general policies for their professional development and regulation and recommend suitable training and qualification programs to enhance the quality of the early education sector.

The committee will be chaired by Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, a member of the SCW, and will include representatives from relevant entities and experts in the field. Membership will be for a two-year term, with appointments made by a decision from the SCW Secretary-General.

The committee's responsibilities include identifying key challenges and needs of women in the nursery and kindergarten sector. It aims to develop policies through legislative and regulatory reforms and propose a framework for licensing and establishing early education institutions in the private sector that integrate the needs of female employees. Additionally, it will suggest training and capacity-building programs and coordinate with ministries, institutions, and relevant authorities to support early education initiatives.
