Muharraq: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, deputised Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), to inaugurate the Muharraq Specialised Healthcare Centre. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of key figures, including Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works; Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health; Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD); and senior medical officials.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah praised the ongoing support from the SFD in development projects, highlighting the new centre as a testament to the robust ties between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. He also acknowledged the Ministry of Works for its role in delivering the project to high engineering standards, thereby enhancing the healthcare infrastructure in Bahrain.
The Minister of Works emphasized the project's significance in providing advanced medical and rehabilitative care. He noted the ministry's dedication to creating modern healthcare environments and emphasized the importance of collaboration with government hospitals and the SFD in achieving national health objectives.
The Minister of Health described the new centre as a strategic enhancement to Bahrain's health system, aimed at bolstering specialised care and promoting sustainable health development.
Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Marshad, CEO of the SFD, highlighted the 48-year partnership between the fund and Bahrain. He mentioned that the centre, funded by a Saudi grant, serves as a model for quality care and development cooperation.
Dr. Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, CEO of Government Hospitals, stated that the project is a significant step forward in providing care for patients requiring long-term and specialised services. The initiative aligns with the broader efforts to improve the quality of life through integrated care.
The Muharraq Specialised Healthcare Centre is equipped with 106 beds, five medical wards, a pharmacy, a lab, an imaging unit, and rehabilitation facilities. It offers comprehensive services, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and occupational therapy, catering to patients with complex health conditions.
