Manama: The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) has announced a strategic collaboration with JPMorgan to bolster national talent through the establishment of a Global Technology Centre in Bahrain. This initiative is set to create 200 high-quality jobs for Bahraini professionals in the information technology sector, focusing on employment and training opportunities for local talent.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this agreement underscores the significance of strategic partnerships that foster innovation and digital transformation within the Kingdom, while simultaneously enhancing the competencies of Bahraini professionals. This initiative aims to increase the competitiveness of local talent on both a local and international scale.
The announcement took place at a meeting attended by key figures including Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Deputy Chairman of Tamkeen's Board of Directors; Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of Tamkeen; Daniel Pinto, President of JPMorgan; and Abdulla Al Janahi, General Manager of JPMorgan in Bahrain. The meeting focused on the latest developments in the financial services and IT sectors, emphasizing the need to invest in national talent to meet labour market demands. The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive of Tamkeen and the General Manager of JPMorgan in Bahrain.
The JPMorgan centre in Bahrain is poised to become one of the most advanced in the region, aiming to generate 200 high-quality roles in domains such as software engineering, IT management, project management, and data analysis. Employees will receive specialized training, with some having the opportunity to participate in JPMorgan's Global Practical Training Programme in the United States and India, ensuring that their skills align with international standards.
Bahrain has emerged as a regional fintech hub, with the financial services sector being a major economic contributor, making up 17.7% of the GDP in the third quarter of last year. This sector employs over 14,000 professionals. The partnership between Tamkeen and JPMorgan aligns with Tamkeen's broader initiatives to support the financial services and IT sectors, offering high-quality job opportunities and practical experience with leading global firms.
