HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister Leads Weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace

Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace. During the meeting, the Cabinet extended its Eid Al-Adha greetings to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the people of Bahrain, and the broader Arab and Islamic communities. The Cabinet also acknowledged the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's preparations for the Hajj season, praising the improved organizational readiness and service quality for pilgrims.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Cabinet reviewed a memorandum from the Minister of Interior proposing amendments to traffic laws to intensify penalties for severe traffic violations leading to injury or fatalities. The memorandum highlighted the need for stricter penalties for reckless driving that threatens public safety. The Cabinet also commended the outcomes of the second ASEAN-GCC Summit and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, emphasizing the significance of HRH Prince Salman's address reflecting Bahrain's vision for international cooperation in sustainable development.

The Cabinet highlighted HRH's official visit to Malaysia, which included meetings with Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Prime Minister Anwar bin Ibrahim, strengthening Bahrain-Malaysia relations. The Cabinet expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to the Bahrain delegation during the visit. Support for the national press was reaffirmed, and the Cabinet congratulated recipients of the 2025 Prime Minister's Press Award for Journalism, emphasizing the award's role in fostering media excellence.

In education, the Cabinet praised outstanding students of the 2024-2025 academic year and the Ministry of Education's contemporary methods. The Cabinet also reiterated its commitment to environmental initiatives aligned with Sustainable Development Goals in view of World Environment Day. Several memorandums were reviewed and approved, including those related to the efficiency of the electricity and water sector, maternity services for non-Bahrainis, housing financing solutions, and urban development.

Ministerial reports were noted, covering Bahrain's participation in various international meetings and events, including the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee meeting, preparations for the Bahrain International Airshow 2026, and participation in the World Utilities Congress and the UN Habitat Assembly. The Cabinet also reviewed updates on planned external visits by Bahraini ministers and scheduled visits to Bahrain by foreign ministers in June 2025.
