Manama: Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, stated that the Al Wadi project in Al Buhair and the Hoorat Sanad project are advancing steadily in both construction and infrastructure work. These projects are part of the ministry's significant initiatives in the Southern Governorate, delivered through the Government Land Development Rights Programme in collaboration with the private sector.
According to Bahrain News Agency, construction at the Al Wadi project has reached 89%, with infrastructure efforts at 65%. Meanwhile, the Hoorat Sanad project shows construction progress at 58% and infrastructure work at 13%. This assessment came during a field visit by the minister, accompanied by ministry officials and representatives from Eskan Bank, Al Saraya, and Al Namal, the developers responsible for these projects.
During her visit, Al Rumaihi reviewed engineering works, the construction and infrastructure schedules, and adherence to approved timelines. She also examined project layouts and updated housing unit designs tailored to the needs of Bahraini beneficiary families. The minister emphasized the effective collaboration between the ministry and developers, noting that seven projects have been implemented across the Kingdom, with increasing interest from real estate companies in new developments.
Al Rumaihi highlighted the progress at the Al Wadi project, which is being developed with Al Saraya and consists of 76 housing units. She mentioned that the project is nearing completion, with infrastructure work progressing rapidly. The ministry and developer are committed to completing the project on time, allowing early handover of units to beneficiaries who reserved through the "Baity" platform during the Innovation Summit in the Social Housing Sector last April.
Regarding the Hoorat Sanad project, developed with Al Namal and comprising 47 units, the minister noted steady progress and an acceleration of work. She announced that electronic off-plan reservations would open in the coming weeks, with a show unit being prepared for prospective beneficiaries under the housing financing programme to review the design prior to making a reservation.
Al Rumaihi remarked that the projects under the Government Land Development Rights Programme are central to public-private partnership efforts in the housing sector. She highlighted the programme's role in expanding and diversifying housing options for citizens, offering greater flexibility for homeownership based on family needs. These initiatives aim to provide sustainable housing services and improve quality of life by fostering private-sector partnerships, expediting project delivery, and meeting the rising housing demand, in alignment with the Government Programme 2023-2026.
