Housing Minister Engages with UN-Habitat GCC Representative on Urban Development Initiatives

Manama: Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, received Ayman El Hefnawi, Gulf Cooperation Council Representative for United Nations-Habitat, to discuss collaborative efforts in housing and urban development.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Al Rumaihi highlighted Bahrain's ongoing initiatives to advance its housing sector, focusing on innovative schemes designed to provide suitable homes for citizens. The meeting underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation and expertise exchange with UN-Habitat, aiming to unify efforts towards sustainable urban development and to review upcoming programmes planned by the organization.

El Hefnawi introduced UN-Habitat's forthcoming two-year plan for 2025-2026, which aims to improve urban futures through inclusive physical planning, sustainable urban financing, and effective governance. He praised Bahrain's commitment to implementing urban development strategies and ensuring suitable housing, emphasizing the significance of continued dialogue to share experiences and achieve mutual objectives.
