Manama: Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) and Head of the High Committee for the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference, said that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's patronage of the conference reflects Bahrain's commitment to fostering Muslim unity, strengthening cooperation, and promoting reconciliation among Islamic nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference, set for February 19-20 in Manama, seeks to bridge divides and establish practical mechanisms for sustainable rapprochement by highlighting common ground among Muslims. The event will gather prominent scholars and intellectuals to counter extremism, promote dialogue, and enhance coexistence and solidarity across Islamic traditions.
Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed noted that the conference will explore key themes such as the role of religious leaders in overcoming sectarian barriers, intra-Islamic dialogue methodologies, citizenship, and challenges to unity. The discussions aim to transition from theoretical dialogue to implementing actionable strategies that address contemporary issues facing the Muslim world.
He emphasized that Bahrain, under HM the King's leadership, has long supported tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and inclusive policies, making it a natural platform for initiatives that advance reconciliation and collective harmony. Engaging youth and academic institutions in fostering a culture of acceptance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence is crucial, with young people playing a vital role in spreading dialogue and countering divisive rhetoric.
Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed highlighted that the conference's theme, 'One Nation, One Shared Destiny,' will be translated into educational, media, and institutional initiatives, including the creation of collaborative committees, regular forums, and awareness campaigns to strengthen Islamic unity. Religious institutions will be encouraged to develop training programs for leaders to promote moderate Islamic values, while addressing sectarianism and inflammatory rhetoric remains central to the event's mission.
He concluded by stating that Bahrain remains committed to sustaining dialogue efforts, ensuring ongoing engagement through structured frameworks, and reinforcing solidarity across Muslim communities, positioning the Kingdom as a key advocate for long-term cooperation and understanding.
