Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has issued Decree (61) of 2025, which aims to restructure the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO). The decree follows a proposal from the Minister of Finance and National Economy and has received approval from the Cabinet.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this newly issued decree delineates the governance framework of the SIO and specifies mandates across various sectors, including actuarial, legal, communications, insurance, operations, and pensioners' affairs. In doing so, it repeals the previous Decree (79) of 2019, signifying a significant shift in the organisational structure and governance of the SIO.
The Minister of Finance and National Economy is tasked with implementing the decree, which is effective immediately from the date of issue. The decree will also be published in the Official Gazette, ensuring its accessibility and transparency to the public.
