Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa ratified and issued Law (17) of 2026, which amends certain provisions of the Reform and Rehabilitation Institution Law originally issued by Law (18) of 2014. This ratification follows the approval by both the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives, marking a significant legislative update in the realm of reform and rehabilitation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the amendments to the law specifically involve replacing references to inmate employment and work with terms related to rehabilitation and training. This change underscores a shift in focus towards rehabilitating and training inmates, rather than merely employing them, within the framework of the law.
The implementation of this law is mandated to be carried out by the Prime Minister and the ministers, each within their designated capacities. The law will come into effect on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette, ensuring its timely enforcement.
