Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has issued Decree (12) of 2026, which aims to reorganise the Ministry of Finance and National Economy. The decree was based on a proposal by the Minister of Finance and National Economy and received approval from the Cabinet.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the reorganisation plan includes several structural changes within the ministry. The Minister of Finance and National Economy will oversee a range of departments, including the Public Debt Management Office, Future Generation Reserve Fund Council, Audit and Communication Directorate, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Coordination and Follow-up.
The Undersecretary for Financial Affairs will supervise various assistant undersecretaries responsible for areas such as Resources and Information, Financial Operations, International Cooperation Affairs, Fiscal Policy and Budget, and Shared Financial Services. Each of these assistant undersecretaries will manage specific directorates including Human and Financial Resources, Financing Operations, International Relations, Budget, and Shared Financial Services Affairs Coordination, among others.
Additionally, an Undersecretary for National Economy will oversee the Assistant Undersecretary for Economic Affairs and the Assistant Undersecretary for Competitiveness and Economic Indicators. These roles will cover directorates focused on economic planning, policies, sustainability, competitiveness, and economic indicators.
The decree also repeals Decree (17) of 2021, which previously reorganised the Ministry of Finance and National Economy. The Minister of Finance and National Economy is tasked with implementing this new decree, which will take effect from the date of its issuance and be published in the Official Gazette.
