Health Undersecretary Participates in Preparatory Meeting of GCC Health Undersecretaries in Kuwait

Kuwait city: Dr. Lulwa Rashid Showaiter, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, participated in the 11th preparatory meeting of the Health Undersecretaries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in the State of Kuwait. During the meeting, Dr. Showaiter expressed appreciation for the efforts of the GCC Secretariat General and member states in supporting joint Gulf cooperation, highlighting the importance of such meetings in strengthening health collaboration and unifying efforts to enhance the quality and efficiency of healthcare systems in line with the GCC's sustainable development aspirations.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting discussed several key health topics and projects on the agenda, including following up on the Supreme Council's decisions related to the GCC Strategy for Combating Drugs 2025-2026, the GCC Virtual Health Complex, health insurance, the unified procedures for classification and registration of health specialisations, and the Healthy Cities Initiative. It also addressed a number of recommendations submitted by the specialised technical committees and joint working groups.

Dr. Showaiter commended the vital role of the GCC Health Council in implementing joint health programmes, noting its contribution to advancing Gulf health integration, promoting the exchange of expertise and successful experiences, and supporting the continued development and progress of health sectors across the GCC countries.
