Cairo: Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, attended the third edition of the Global Conference on Population, Health and Human Development in Cairo. Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Republic of Egypt, was also present.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference, held from November 10 to 13 under the patronage of His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of Egypt, brought together health ministers, international organisations, and experts in public health and human development.
In her speech on integrating artificial intelligence into Bahrain's vision for sustainable health and human development, Dr. Hasan emphasized that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, focuses on promoting sustainable health development and using innovation to improve wellbeing.
She elaborated on the Kingdom's participation in the conference, reflecting its commitment to enhancing cooperation with Egypt in the health sector. She acknowledged Egypt's pioneering health initiatives in recent years as a model regionally and internationally.
The Health Minister also explained Bahrain's experience in applying AI and digital transformation to develop the healthcare system. She stated that technology plays a crucial role in enhancing quality of life through a comprehensive digital network covering primary care, hospitals, laboratories, and pharmacies. AI has improved service efficiency, accelerated diagnosis, and improved patient safety, while also being used to predict chronic diseases and allocate resources towards prevention. She noted that these technologies were essential during the COVID-19 pandemic through smart analytics and digital platforms that supported rapid response and saved lives.
She highlighted the Kingdom's commitment to following up on the outcomes of the 72nd session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean and to coordinating regional positions on future health decisions, advancing the role of Arab states in developing policies that support sustainable health development.
