Foreign Minister receives Chair Holder of UNESCO Chair for Religious Pluralism, Peace at Italy’s University of Bologna

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, received at the Ministry today, the Chair Holder of the UNESCO Chair on Religious Pluralism and Peace at the University of Bologna, Professor Alberto Melloni.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs lauded the relations of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the friendly Italian Republic, noting their development at various levels.

He commended the efforts of the University of Bologna in supporting studies that deal with issues of religious pluralism and peace, noting the importance of strengthening cooperation and joint coordination between the competent authorities to promote the values of religious freedoms, tolerance, coexistence and respect for the other. In this regard, he affirmed the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in light of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to consolidate these principles internationally.

Professor Melloni commended the Kingdom’s efforts in enhancing the principles of tolerance and religious pluralism, noting its achievements in the field of promoting peaceful coexistence and highlighting the values of peace and tolerance. He also wished the Kingdom of Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Paula Amadi, the Head of the Human Rights Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arwa Hasan Al-Sayed, and Head of the European Affairs Sector, Ahmed Al-Qurainis.
