Foreign Minister: HM’s Participation in Sharm El Sheikh Summit Demonstrates Commitment to Regional Peace

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, said the participation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in the Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace demonstrated the royal vision on supporting international and regional efforts to achieve lasting security, stability, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain's appreciation, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, for the sincere efforts of His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of Egypt, in hosting and organising this historic summit held to mark the agreement to end the war in Gaza. He underscored Egypt's steadfast stance in support of the Palestinian cause and its leading role in promoting regional and international peace and security.

He also noted His Majesty the King's appreciation for the efforts led by His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the US, with the support of Egypt, Qatar, and Trkiye, to achieve this peace initiative. The minister affirmed Bahrain's support for the comprehensive document on the Gaza agreement, which includes historic provisions for a ceasefire, the exchange of prisoners and detainees, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid.

The Minister described the agreement as a glimmer of hope for ending the conflict and a decisive step that supports the implementation of the Arab-Islamic plan for reconstruction, in line with Egypt's diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives to organise the international conference on early recovery, reconstruction, and development in the Gaza Strip.

Dr. Al Zayani noted that His Majesty the King's participation at the summit reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain's diplomatic approach, with the support of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He reaffirmed Bahrain's position in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the two-state solution, as the foundation for lasting peace and coexistence between Palestinians and Israelis, and among the peoples of the region.

The minister concluded by affirming the Kingdom's readiness, through its active engagement in regional and international organisations and its upcoming non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council for 2026-2027, to work closely with global partners, particularly the United States and permanent council members, to promote the values of tolerance and peace as a strategic choice for a secure and prosperous future for the region and the world.
