Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), conducted an inspection visit to Isa Sports City to review the final preparations and readiness of the facilities for hosting the Third Asian Youth Games (AYG). The event will be held on October 22-31, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad was accompanied by His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the GSA; His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the BOC; Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the GSA; Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary-General of the BOC; and Yousef Duaij, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Third AYG. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad toured the main operations centre and the Isa bin Rashid Sports Halls, which will host the men's and women's volleyball competitions, as well as men's and women's badminton and kabaddi. His Highness was briefed by the Chairman of the Executive Committee on the progress of preparations according to the highest standards approved by the Olympic Council of Asia.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad underlined that the Kingdom of Bahrain is confidently moving towards a successful hosting of this major continental event. His Highness commended the efforts of the working teams across various committees and emphasised the importance of maintaining a high work pace to ensure full readiness before the competitions begin. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed confidence that the developments and advanced preparations at Isa Sports City will set a benchmark for sports facilities capable of hosting major championships, reflecting the Kingdom's distinguished organisational capabilities and proud sporting heritage. His Highness wished success to all involved.
