Amman: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Dr. Johann Wadephul, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, on the sidelines of the GCC-EU Regional Security and Cooperation Forum. The meeting aimed to evaluate the bilateral relationship between Bahrain and Germany and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions between the two ministers covered a range of regional developments. They addressed the ongoing Iranian attacks against Bahrain and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. The conversation also touched upon the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the significance of keeping this vital corridor open for global energy and food supplies, international trade, and the overall global economy.
Both Dr. Al Zayani and Dr. Wadephul expressed their condemnation of the recent attacks in the Gulf region, showing solidarity with the affected nations and seafarers. They highlighted the importance of maintaining the Strait of Hormuz open for international navigation and reiterated that no single state should have control over the Strait or impose transit fees. Both ministers emphasized the importance of protecting the freedom of navigation to support the economies of both countries.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammed Ali Behzad, Bahrain's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Mission to the European Union, along with the accompanying delegation.
