Foreign Minister Engages in Talks with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister

New york: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on the sidelines of their participation in the meetings of the UN Security Council.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on the historical ties between Bahrain and Pakistan and explored ways to further strengthen and develop these relations in support of the shared interests of the two countries. They discussed regional developments and the ongoing efforts by the Pakistani government to employ dialogue and diplomatic solutions for a peaceful settlement to the US-Iran conflict.

The discussions also addressed the repercussions of Iran's attacks on GCC countries and other regional states. The two sides considered international efforts aimed at ending Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation and assessed its impact on energy and food supplies, international trade, and the global economy.

Furthermore, the meeting covered strategies to enhance cooperation and coordination during their respective terms as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council. They discussed current regional and international challenges and issues under consideration by the Council.

The meeting was attended by Jamal Fares Al Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York; Saeed Abdulkhaleq Saeed, Chief of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and the accompanying delegation.
