Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the pivotal role of Bahraini sports in advancing human and civilisational values, fostering a culture of peace, and contributing to comprehensive and sustainable development.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani commended the unwavering support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the continuous support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The minister expressed gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), for their efforts in advancing sports and youth achievements.
Dr. Al Zayani commended their initiatives in talent development, sports infrastructure enhancement, and promoting sports as a lifestyle within a sustainable investment framework. He expressed pride in the ministry's participation in the ninth Bahrain Sports Day and welcomed the Cabinet's decision to allocate half a working day for government employees to engage in sports. He highlighted its role in promoting public health, well-being, and teamwork to enhance institutional performance.
The minister highlighted Bahraini sports as a key cultural and diplomatic tool in promoting human values, dialogue, and sustainable development. He noted the Kingdom's success in regional and global championships and its hosting of major international events, including the Bahrain Grand Prix, Ironman races, combat sports, and the ISF Gymnasiade. He also underscored Bahrain Sports Day as a national event reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to sports development, public health, and competitiveness, aligning with national and international development plans.
