Manama: The Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, highlighted the ministry's dedication to Bahrain Sports Day, stressing its significance in fostering public health, boosting productivity, and advancing sustainable development. The event is held under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed praised the Cabinet's decision, spearheaded by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to allocate February 20 as a half-working day for government employees. This initiative encourages participation in sports activities, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed also acknowledged the contributions of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Their roles as Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), respectively, have been pivotal in advancing sports initiatives across the nation.
The minister reiterated the significance of adopting sports as a lifestyle choice to improve public health and enhance social well-being, aligning with national objectives for a healthier and more active population.
