Manama: The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has launched the first cohort of the National Programme for Cyber Awareness Specialists, with significant participation from government entities and key sectors. The event was graced by Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, Deputy Chief Executive of the NCSC.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed emphasized that this programme is Bahrain's first comprehensive national initiative aimed at preparing certified specialists in cyber awareness. The initiative is designed to enable participants to design and implement sustainable institutional programmes, contributing to the enhancement of Bahrain's national cyber maturity. It also aims to bolster coordination between the Centre and relevant entities, aligning with the Kingdom's strategic goals to maintain its advanced standing in the ITU Global Cybersecurity Index.
He further noted the Centre's pivotal role in supporting government entities and sectors in promoting secure digital practices. This includes developing national policies, standards, and frameworks, and overseeing their implementation to ensure unified efforts, measurable outcomes, and advanced institutional maturity at the national level.
The opening ceremony was attended by undersecretaries, assistant undersecretaries, officials, and programme participants. In total, 75 specialists from 55 organisations across vital sectors are participating, each responsible for leading awareness activities within their institutions. The training will be conducted by Ali Beshara, a cybersecurity consultant and trainer, who will provide participants with the skills necessary to develop effective awareness programmes.
The ceremony also featured presentations outlining the programme's objectives, implementation mechanisms, and regulatory framework, underscoring its strategic importance in guiding leadership and decision-makers towards institutional initiatives that strengthen cyber awareness.
